Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre is Victoria’s only 24/7 family and domestic violence crisis response centre.

They provide a range of support services for all people experiencing or afraid of family and domestic violence in Victoria. Safe Steps services include information and referral, crisis response, specialist family and domestic violence risk assessment, safety planning, and access to supported crisis accommodation. The support is via phone, email, or live chat.

Sexual Assault Crisis Line

The Sexual Assault Crisis Line Victoria (SACL) is a state-wide, after-hours, confidential, telephone crisis counselling service for people who have experienced both past and recent sexual assault.

SACL is the central after hours coordination centre for all recent sexual assaults and provides immediate crisis responses throughout Victoria.

SACL operates between 5pm weeknights through to 9am the next day and throughout weekends and public holidays.

The Men’s Referral Service supports men who have or are still behaving abusively, family members who are impacted by a man’s abusive behaviours, people who wish to understand how to support their friends, family, or colleagues, and professionals wishing to support a client who is using or experiencing family violence.

They offer short term counselling, men’s behaviour change programs and some case management.

Goulburn Valley Centre Against Sexual Assault

GVCASA provides free and confidential counselling and support services, including therapeutic counselling and advocacy for victim survivors of sexual assault and their non-offending families, partners and friends.

Services include 24/7 crisis care response to victim survivors of recent sexual assault, group counselling and support, and secondary consultations (including debriefing).

Mallee Sexual Assault Unit Inc

The Mallee Domestic Violence Service (MDVS) offers 24-hour crisis support for victim survivors with or without children who are in crisis as a result of domestic violence. They offer crisis refuge accommodation, medium-security accommodation, short and long term counselling, advocacy, referrals and outreach services.

Berry Street – Central Highlands

Berry Street provides phone and face-to-face support, including risk assessments, safety planning, referrals to emergency accommodation, therapeutic services for children, court and legal support in the Centrals Highlands area. They also run the Mother Infant Village, a safe and nurturing environment for mothers and children who have experienced family violence in Ballarat.

1800RESPECT

1800RESPECT can support people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing family violence. They provide confidential information and counselling and can provide a referral to other services.
