Identifying, assessing
and managing risk
All parts of the service system share responsibility to keep victim survivors safe, and keep perpetrators in view and held accountable, by working together using common guidelines to identify, assess and manage the risk of serious harm or death due to family violence.
This includes a wide variety of sectors, regardless of whether their core focus is family violence, so it is important to understand your responsibilities.
Within this system, specialist family violence services have a key role in providing specialist family violence support to victim survivors, including comprehensive risk assessment and management. Common guidelines provide a shared understanding across the service system of roles and responsibilities in relation to family violence to ensure services work collaboratively.
