In a nutshell – brilliant. Recommend it as well to my leadership. And I’ve told everyone, ‘if you have this opportunity’ – I even put it in my reports – ‘go ahead’. It was the best training that I’ve been involved in thus far.

I encouraged our whole executive to do it because I wanted them to understand more about the sector and feminist leadership.

For executive and senior leaders

Lead + Adapt is a program for leaders in Victoria working to end family and sexual violence.

EXECUTIVE LEADERS

Leaders with a defined role in whole-of-organisation strategy and goal setting.

If you interact directly with board members, funders or external partners, and you have responsibility for overall strategic direction, top-level decision making, guiding organisational growth, and ensuring long-term success – this program is for you.

SENIOR LEADERS

Leaders who manage departments, divisions, functions, and specialist areas.

If you’re directly reporting to the executive level, and you have responsibility for managing strategic and operational goals, managing people or teams, holding functional expertise, and measuring and evaluating performance – this program is for you.

Subject matter

Using an adaptive leadership framework, Lead + Adapt puts your values and your connection to purpose at the centre of your leadership learning.

You’ll develop a practical toolkit that you can use to expand and support your leadership practice and manage ongoing change.

You’ll also have the chance to explore shared challenges with your peers, gaining insight and advice while deepening your understanding of work taking place across sectors.

Our aim is to develop and support inquisitive, reflective leaders with the skills and mindset to make a difference.

Program learning outcomes

  • Lead with conviction and authenticity, influencing and engaging others to successfully deliver outcomes for your organisation, sector and the community.
  • Approach problems innovatively, with the confidence to experiment more, view challenges differently, and create the space for others to trial new ideas and approaches.
  • Strengthen self-awareness and confidence, developing insights into your own leadership practice, leadership capabilities, and areas for growth.
  • Deepen your support network, connecting with other leaders, creating a shared leadership language and understanding that will support you into the future.

Format and methods

  • A small cohort size, allowing for responsive and collaborative learning
  • In-person workshops with an experienced facilitator and guest presenters
  • A 360 degree diagnostic feedback tool
  • Access to an online learning hub and resources
  • Opportunities for the application of learning in real-world working environments
  • Peer learning and peer case consultations

Lead and Adapt did focus on the structural issues. It wasn’t just ‘let’s think about yourself as an individual leader’. It was like, ‘let’s think about the family violence sector and things that are happening and the dynamics in your organisation as a whole’.

The beauty of bringing all of us together across from varying programs, services, but all within the family violence space, is that we could all contribute our own knowledge, our own experience as well, and network, which has been incredible as well.
