This training is tailored for specialist family violence victim-survivor practitioners with comprehensive MARAM responsibilities.

This course will be delivered interactively as a one half-day virtual session.
This training equips participants with the skills and knowledge to identify and respond effectively to misidentification, including use of the Predominant Aggressor Identification Template and associated practice guidance.

To participate in this virtual course you will need:
  • Access to a laptop or desktop computer with headphones/speakers and ideally with a camera.
  • Reliable internet connection.
  • Zoom downloaded onto your computer‚ you can download here.
  • Google Chrome as your web browser, or Safari for MAC users.
  • Access to your email - you will receive an email invitation to Canvas, the training platform used to deliver the training.
  • Headphones/headset/speakers so that you can hear the presentation. 
The training is delivered exclusively through Canvas.

Please log in to Canvas and ensure you make a note of your login details as soon as you receive your email invitation. We recommend noting your training times along with the Canvas URL and your login details in your calendar.
Please note that sessions will not be recorded/made available outside of the session times.

Prerequisites:
This training is for specialist family violence victim survivor practitioners with comprehensive responsibilities, and who have completed the pre-requisite comprehensive risk assessment and management training.

Training eligibility criteria:
MARAM training is available for prescribed workforces. Current prescribed workforces are here: https://www.vic.gov.au/about-information-sharing-schemes-and-risk-management-framework

Instructions to register online:
  1. Find a training you wish to attend below and click the ‘enrol’ button.
  2. Input your given name, family name and email address and click ‘create’.
  3. If you’ve registered with us before (with the same email address), you’ll have an existing account. A notice will appear letting you know an existing record has been found. An email will be sent to your email address titled ‘Incomplete Online Booking’.
  4. Open the email, and click on the second link provided. This will take you back to the registration page to resume your registration.
  5. This is a free training, and you are not required to enter payment details. When you reach the payment page, click to the next section 'Review Details' then click 'Continue Enrolment' to skip past this section.
Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email, as well as an invitation to Canvas.

Who is this for?

This training is for specialist family violence victim survivor practitioners with comprehensive responsibilities, and who have completed the pre-requisite comprehensive risk assessment and management training. It is suitable for practitioners working within specialist family violence services, as well as those in specialist roles within non-family violence services, where their responsibilities involve addressing misidentification at a comprehensive level. 
  • Learning outcomes
  • On completion of this training, participants will be able to apply concepts and practices related to identifying and addressing misidentification, including
  • Developing an understanding of MARAM practice guidance relevant to misidentification, including key practice concepts and definitions.
  • Gaining insight into factors contributing to misidentification (e.g. systems abuse, bias, perpetrator narratives) and identify those more likely to be misidentified.
  • Demonstrating the ability to apply relevant MARAM practice guidance to effectively undertake a Predominant Aggressor assessment and document using the Predominant Aggressor Identification Template.
  • Developing skills to rectify the impact of misidentification on victim-survivors, including correcting records, advocacy, proactive information sharing, and coordinated risk management.

  • You must attend the whole session of training in order to receive a certificate. We will only issue certificates to participants who have attended the whole training.
