Unpacking Resistance - In person

DETAILS

Key reasons many people choose to work in primary prevention are to build momentum and create change. We are passionate about mobilising people and community to transform power structures and attitudes that drive gender-based violence.
Having conversations and advocating for change with people we work with, decision makers, workshop participants, parents and funders is critical to the success and momentum of change. We’re often inviting the exploration of new or challenging ideas through these conversations, and people can often react to the topic of gender equality in different ways - from denying there is an issue, to placating or de-prioritising the efforts for change.

‘It’s just the way things are..’
‘We’ve already achieved gender equality, sexism isn’t the problem here.’
'It's not my responsibility to respond to sexist or homophobic things my colleagues say'.

Unpacking Resistance training focuses on interpersonal resistance. You’ll learn how to identify resistant behaviours and attitudes, and develop strategies and tools to support meaningful and solutions-focused conversations. These learnings will help you strengthen conversations with those you're working with, to progress gender equality in workplaces, sporting clubs or councils.  Establishing spaces and conversations that are built on trust, care and respect will enable you to create change in the long run.

Training times:
Session 1: 10 am - 12.30 pm
Session 2: 1.30 pm - 4 pm
Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

*Please note, we are unable to accommodate specific dietary requirements if you enrol within 3 working days of the training
