This report describes the findings of a project aimed at strengthening the foundations for planning and implementing primary prevention workforce development in Victoria. This report was officially launched at our hybrid event in October 2024.

This report describes the findings of a project aimed at strengthening the foundations for planning and implementing primary prevention workforce development in Victoria.

The key aims of the project were to:

  • Develop a comprehensive view of the nature and diversity of the current workforce, across organisations, roles, sectors, settings, communities and locations
  • Create shared understandings of the workforce through consultation with key stakeholders
  • Outline key considerations for responding to workforce needs and developing the workforce into the future

Through these aims, the project sought to increase the collective capacity of the sector and government to strategically map out the actions that are needed to develop the primary prevention workforce in Victoria.

This report was produced by Safe and Equal with funding from the Centre for Workforce, in partnership with Family Safety Victoria, in the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing during 2023-2024.

The report was launched on October 11, 2024 at a PiP in Conversation event held by Safe and Equal at the QVWC, on Wurundjeri Land. This event included opening remark by Maria Dimopolous, an introduction to the project by Marina Carman, and an incredible panel discussion hosted by Meghan Cooper, featuring Dr Stephanie Lusby; Jackson Fairchild; Dr Wei Leng Kwok; and Malavika Kadwadkar.
