Nawal moved to Australia from Kenya with her former husband, who became physically violent early in their marriage. He promised many times to stop using violence, but it always continued.
For the safety of her young daughter, Nawal decided she needed to leave the relationship. She made a plan and was able to escape her violent partner with the help of police and family violence services.

Now she lives independently and enjoys freedom of movement and a bright future for her daughter.
