This case study is intended for non-Aboriginal family violence organisations seeking to genuinely centre Aboriginal women’s voices in their work. It draws from a partnership between Djirra, Elizabeth Morgan House and Safe and Equal, and shares the practical steps taken to ensure Aboriginal women shaped the process from the start.
It draws from the perspectives of three Aboriginal women participating in this project, the Project Lead who worked closely with them, and a lessons learnt report capturing their experiences.
Recognising that organisations and communities are unique, this resource is intended as an example, with the invitation to use as a reference and adapt what does not fit to your context.
“I’m finding that a lot of organisations are now open to having advocates, and you can’t get any better resource than that, can you?” – Aboriginal woman
